Betting Industry: Affected By Controversial Litigations

Unfortunately, the betting industry is indeed affected in one way or another by all of the controversial litigations taking place. One of these controversial litigations is that one by a South Korean problem gambler against the Kangwon Land casino, a government-run casino.

According to reports, the gambler is a sixty-seven-year-old former company boss and only identified as Chung. It was said that he put down more than 30 billion won or 34.2 million dollars in bets between 2003 and 2006 at the casino. November of last year, he was given by a court 2.8 billion won as payment for the damages the casino may have caused him. He believed the casino allegedly fueled his addiction to gambling.

However, Chung is believed to be unsatisfied, he want to ask for more. He appealed for greater payment for the damages, significantly more than the 2.8 billion won given to him. For him, the casino tolerated his addiction by allowing him to make bets beyond the legitimate limit. He put a lot of bets believing that by doing so he could recoup his losses. He became really desperate and then even careless about hiring up to five people who will serve as subordinate bettors so that he can bet up to 60 million won at a time.

The other party has been a little secretive about their exact stand about the matter. But before, they claimed in a way that Chung lost his fortune in own will, in a voluntary and normal way.

Now, if Chung’s appeal for greater payment for the damages will be granted or not, that we don’t know. What we do know is this matter must be put into rest, the betting industry is affected in one way or another. Of course, everything within the industry is interconnected.

Betting Industry Has Been Implicated in So Many Disputes

Yes it’s true, the betting industry has been implicated in so many disputes. There are the disputes between a club and a bookie, disputes between a bookie and a bettor, and even a dispute between a bettor and another bettor.

In early 2005, a dispute between Jamil Dia and Constantine Harach started to take the lime light, with both being a well-known poker player and bettor in New Zealand. The dispute actually continues and now that it is already 2009, the two are back for the fifth time in a Wellington court to try to resolve the dispute between them, happened to be about the shares in a $500 000 win at Melbourne’s Crown Casino in early 2005.

Dia and Harach were really good friends. They have competed in some international poker events and have shared winnings. However, at the event at Melbourne’s Crown Casino, from which Dia won $500 000, Harach wasn’t able to get a share. It was said in the past that Harach believed there was an agreement between him and Dia that he would get a share of 20 percent from any winnings.

New Zealand Herald reports that at this point in time, the courts believe Dia holds the winning hand. However, Harach made an appeal basically against the judgment of a lower district court judge, who do not believe an agreement was made about share of 20 percent from any winnings. It must be noted that the district court judge also preferred to believe Dia’s claim that the sharing of winnings stopped in 2002. It was not clear beforehand for Harach’s party.

The dispute still continues and when will it end, that we all don’t know. Hopefully it will end pretty soon, even just for the sake of Dia and Harach being really good friends way back then. May they find in their hearts to settle things out of court.

Immense Changes Within the Betting Industry

Immense changes are just taking place within the betting industry. These changes are typically in form of mega-deals that hope to make improvements on some areas of certain companies’ services. These changes most likely just contribute to possible improvement within the betting industry in terms of services, products and the likes.

One of the latest changes is that of Party Poker’s. It has something to do mainly with the Party Poker’s PartyPoints store being worth up to 50 percent more.

Basically, Party Poker just wanted to have expanded range of items and options and a fresh new look. The range of items has something to do with bonuses and cash offers by which Palladium Lounge.com are concerned about and are just worth the equivalent of up to 30 percent rake-back and even up to 40 percent in some instances.

The change was actually already carried out but up to now still rocks the betting industry. From PartyPoker.com spokesperson, “we’ve completed the changes to the PartyPoints store and challenge you to look at them closely as they undoubtedly offer market leading value.” This sounds so interesting to many that are just within the betting industry.

There are other changes that is worth mentioning but so far that of Party Poker’s, by which has something to do mainly with its PartyPoints store being worth up to 50 percent more, is the one that is making a difference. Directly it aims to provide better offerings to bettors. It is awesome. Future of the betting industry seems bright with such. Bettors seem to enjoy better offerings sooner than they expect.

Hopefully, betting industry will be in a better position, that it may have better things to provide to everyone. But of course, this is possible most especially there are changes just like that of Party Poker’s.
