Another Betting Controversy Rises
Posted by Steve Smith in Betting News on June 18th, 2009
There are already a lot of betting controversies we heard from here and there. Betting controversies we believe will always be a part of us who are into betting. Now another betting controversy rises, we should not be surprised anymore.
Betting controversy is about betting on tennis. Everyones’ talking about it, thus putting it at the center of a Times newspaper report from London.
According to people that do have know-how about the controversy, it was all about men’s tennis being embroiled in fresh betting revelations just actually a week before the start of very popular Wimbledon Tennis Championships. Unexpectedly, some bookmakers on Monday have nullified bets on a grass-court match in the Netherlands. The odds on one player were actually trimmed down from 5-6 to 1-5. And also, a four-figure sum was wagered on that one player by an unknown bettor.
It can be degrading and even frustrating to hear controversies like such, most especially that it involved tennis which has been one of the most well-loved sport. It’s same thing for Roger Federer, the president of the ATP players’ council, who we heard saying that, “it is never good for tennis when we hear of things like this and it is in the players’ power to control what they do at all times. That is the message to get across”.
However, a controversy is a controversy, there is nothing we can do about it. It can be something degrading and even frustrating to hear but again, there is nothing we can do about it. It can’t be stopped from occurring. Let us just hope that eventually everything will fall into place, that everything will be straightened. And also that, players deal with their power to control just right. In their power to control lies the success or failure of every betting events.
