Posted by Steve Smith in Boxing on June 26th, 2009
Indeed, boxing is also a sport to bet on though many people don’t realize this. For being a sport to bet on, it is not that popular. In terms of popularity, it is far behind other sports to bet on just like baseball, basketball and football. For some time, it has been unrecognized that is also a sport to bet on and that even a lot of bets can come from the sport itself.
Some sports bettors just don’t realize that there can also be big money in boxing, most especially with betting on the scene. And it is just so easy to have big money. There can be betting, there can be placing of bets. Well this can be accomplished easily, it is just so easy to place bets on boxing though.
Nonetheless, it will be a match, bets can be placed on either of the two boxers involved. The bets can be for the winner or at times can be on possibility of a draw, all will be based on money lines. The money lines are the odds of the game that ascertain how much is to be won when betting for the favorite or else for the underdog. They can be positive (+), and they can be negative (-). Positive (+) is always the underdog while negative (-) is always the favorite.
Consider this example:
Favorite: -170
Underdog: +150
Draw: +800
For the favorite which is -170, $170 must be placed as bet to win $100. For the underdog which is +150, $100 must be placed as bet to win $150. For the draw which is +800, $100 must be placed as bet to win $800.
There can be proposition bets which may include bets on how many rounds match will go, specific round match will end and the winner of the fight and how the fight will be decided if it is by knockout or decision.

It is just worth discussing each betting line. Each has its own purpose when it comes to betting in basketball.

Nonetheless, player who will be betting on the Lakers for an instance for $100 can later collect a total of $150 if they win.
